Ooh, ooh, I did! I did!
And as we all know, the real reason the “LAND” part of the sign is now missing is that Neville Sinclair, Hollywood star and secret Nazi agent, crashed into the sign whilst attempting to fly away with a strap-on rocket pack.
It’s kind of like how movies set in Ancient Egypt always want to come up with some zany reason the Sphinx’s nose is chipped off.
