This (story) is the message board of a bunch of time travellers from the future.

Apparently it’s against the rules to kill Hitler.

More important than the events of the past is the promise of the future.

This phrase, tossed off by John McCain in a speech regarding the subprime bailouts, may seem like empty politician-speak, but it perfectly sums up what frustrates me about the election. Those who wish to talk about our problems are portrayed as negative nellies. This refusal to admit defeat, this inability to take responsibility, this saving of face is destroying us. And McCain’s the least guilty.

This is ultimately why Ron Paul lost. He was the only candidate with anything to offer other than the oratorial equivalent of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”.

You’re absolutely right, Cole.
I’ve noticed that other every candidate is basically giving high school graduation speeches except for Dr. Paul, who actually understands economic policy, among many other things.  (Not just a bunch of “this is not the end, but the beginning!”  “we have hope in hope itself!”  Uh yes, would you mind telling me what your solutions are, and why we’re in this mess?)
He gave a wonderful speech last night at Pitt and… I guess the photo speaks for itself.
And yes, they did have bomb-sniffing dogs.

I really like this photo.
But then again, you probably knew that. [vintage photo]
