SotD: Eddy Arnold with “Cattle Call”

This was #1 on the country charts in 1955, and made it up to the top 100 on the pop charts.  The first time I heard this song was freshman year of undergrad when my Calculus prof sang it to us at a Christmas party (which we decided to have instead of a review for the final, go figure).

I’ve always liked it since then and haven’t heard anything quite like it.

This is an interesting idea.  And hey, it was in French, so no loss there.

It’s impossible to sound masculine when you are saying “isthmus”.

I’ve had this album for a while although I’m only just getting around to listening to it.  I was already familiar with Paul Mauriat because of his big hit, “Love is Blue”.  I always thought this was a cool album cover.

Chuck Jones.  Great.

And imdb won’t confirm it, but I can tell you that’s a Mel Blanc hiccough, if ever I heard one.

High Note by Chuck Jones.

A classic cartoon that has served as a reminder that I don’t watch nearly enough Looney Tunes these days. (via SvN)

The fact that such a horrifically large blue saddle across America’s blustery midriffs is purported to be “pop” areas is rather disturbing.  Fortunately, no one really lives in most those places.  I mean, this could just as easily be some sort of climate map or something.
6 years as a guest in Western PA is quite enough “pop” for me, thank you…
And yes, the nutritionist who spoke on Tuesday repeatedly used the expression “soda pop”.     *cringe*
